設立の歴史 History

1972年に自らの道場を立ち上げる際に、中山正敏師範は中国で勉強中最初の滞在地(抱一龕)を道場の名前として選びました。この名前は志を同じくする者が共に学ぶ場所という意味です。中山師範の夢は空手を世界中に広め、友情を育み、国際関係を良くしたいというものでした。この目的の為に、中山師範は自らの道場を自分の住まいの地下に造り、海外から空手を学びに来た者達の為の寮を作ったのです。以後、何百人、何千人もがこの素晴らしき場所で生活をし、練習を積んできたのです。

In 1972 Nakayama Masatoshi Shihan chose the name of the first place he stayed at when studying in China for the name of his newly finished personal dojo: Hoitsugan. The name most closely translates as “the place where people with similar goals practice and study together”. One of Nakayama Shihan's desires was to develop and expand karate worldwide as a means of fostering friendships and improved international relations. To this end, Shihan made his personal dojo in the basement of his apartment building along with a small dormitory for international karate-ka to come and stay. Over the years hundreds, if not thousands, have stayed, lived and enjoyed training in this remarkable place.

Today Kawawada Sensei with the support of Mrs. Nakayama continues to carry on the legacy of Nakayama Shihan.
